Oral History for Transformation: Inclusivity, Democracy, and Equality
Roundtable
In connection with the upcoming 3rd International Conference on History, Social Sciences, and Education (ICHSE), roundtable discussions will be held as part of the conference program on 5–6 August 2026. The roundtable sessions aim to provide an interactive and collaborative space for in-depth discussion on selected themes related to oral history and its role in addressing contemporary global and local challenges.
What is Roundtable?
Roundtable is a discussion-based session that brings together a small group of participants to engage in focused, interactive dialogue on a specific topic. Unlike formal paper presentations, roundtables emphasize exchange of ideas, critical reflection, and collective knowledge production. Each roundtable will be guided by a discussion initiator, who will introduce the topic and facilitate the discussion.
Roundtable format
1. Each roundtable session will be led by one discussant. Each roundtable will consist of 3-6 participants, excluding the discussant.
2. The discussant will briefly present key issues, questions, or perspectives to stimulate discussion.
3. The session will prioritize active participation, dialogue, and knowledge exchange among participants rather than formal presentations.
4. Participants are expected to contribute insights, experiences, or reflections related to the selected topic.
Requirements
Applicants who wish to participate in the roundtable session are required to:
- Submit a short statement of interest or motivation (maximum 350 words) outlining the background and relevance to the topic.
- Indicate the preferred sub-theme aligned with the conference topics.
- Demonstrate an interest in oral history, community engagement, or related interdisciplinary fields.
